This build has been designed for the following use:

Simple damage mesmer designed to allow for a large damage output without requiring the player to pick proper targets for punishment skills to trigger. The ability to interrupt is not required either, turning this into an easily accessible build compatible with most standard team builds. Requires blood is power support.

Attributes and Skills

You activate Spells and Signets 43% faster. (No effect for non-Mesmer skills with a cast time less than 2 seconds.)
In PvE, the recharge time of your Mesmer Spells is reduced by 36%.

Variable skill slot

  • Chaos Storm Chaos Storm – additional source of area damage. Use carefully, as it causes scattering.
  • Cry of Frustration Cry of Frustration – best combination of area damage and shutdown. Requires successful interruption.
  • Empathy Empathy – if playing against more physicals than usual. Best used on ranged attackers standing distant from others.
  • Mistrust Mistrust – additional area damage and slight shutdown. Requires proper target selection.
  • Energy Burn Energy Burn – more direct damage.
  • Aneurysm Aneurysm – finish targets once Mind Wrack's final damage was triggered. Particularly useful against boss foes.
  • Great Dwarf Weapon Great Dwarf Weapon – support for party members.
  • Technobabble Technobabble – caster shutdown.
  • "You Are All Weaklings!" "You Are All Weaklings!" – additional safety against groups consisting mainly of melees when in a team without enough anti-physical defense measures.
  • Charm Animal Charm Animal – tame animals and level them for your menagery. Don't resurrect them once they get killed, they receive experience points even while dead and out of your compass range.


  • Air of Superiority Air of Superiority – over Dwarven Stability. Lower wilderness survival to 3, increase fast casting to 15.



  • 40/40 domination magic.
  • High energy set domination magic.
  • Shield set.
  • Any flat or longbow.



Weapon sets

  • The 40/40 set is your main weaponry for getting your spells off as quickly and frequently as possible.
  • When additional energy is needed, switch to the high energy set.
  • Use the bow for safe luring, if needed.
  • Use the shield set when under attack or idle.


  • Maintain Serpent's Quickness with Dwarven Stability.
  • Pick a target standing in the vicinity of other foes, allowing your skills to deal area damage if applicable.
  • Apply Mind Wrack.
  • Use your remaining skills in order to deal damage.
  • Reapply mind wrack if necessary. Especially useful against low energy targets standing in a Chaos Storm.
