Useful in most teams with a party size of at least 6. Alongside a prot the healing power is sufficient to keep the team alive without additional sources of healing. The energy support allows other party members to focus on dealing their main job with less own energy management skills. Especially beneficial for mesmers.
I personally stopped playing builds without a BiP healer hero years ago, unless I decide to play a non-serious team build.
Very strong template to have BiP on, and most teams use a N/Rt healer anyway due to its superior energy management and lack of AI issues when compared to other hero healers.
The only teams that wouldn't use it would be those for party size 4 areas, since BiP doesn't really save you many skill slots at that party size and you're usually hurting to fit more critical utilities into the team.
This build has helped change the meta. Instead of necromancers with discord supported by soul reaping. It allows mesmers with way less energy management to use their skills on recharge.
Without bip those mesmers would run dry while spamming their high energy skills with some support from inspiration magic much quicker. Also a player build such as the assassin's promise caster also benefits alot from the increased energy management to spam their skills on recharge too.
Without the energy management provided by this hero many heroes run on empty and without energy no dps is done at all. Hence this build is not only completely necessary for the meta to have evolved to mesmers but also allows the player to have alot more fun with pve too.
Staple in most current hero comps due to consistent energy sustain. Can run a more offensive midline without needing to spend attributes/skill slots for energy sustain.
