- Replenish your team's energy with Blood is Power as needed.
- Keep up with your team or selfheal with Ebon Escape .
- Use Foul Feast to remove blindness condition from the paragon and optionally from the necromancers.
- Also use it to remove dazed condition from the healing prayers monks.
- Occasionally use Inspirational Speech on the paragon. It's best used right after the paragon has used "Save Yourselves!" . In Ravenheart Gloom it is harder for the paragon to receive energy, so you should not hesitate to use the skill on recharge.
Panic[]
You activate Spells and Signets 50% faster. (No effect for non-Mesmer skills with a cast time less than 2 seconds.) In PvE, the recharge time of your Mesmer Spells is reduced by 45%. |

- Main article: P/any Heroic Refrain
- Weaponry:
- Customized furious spear of defense with the inscription Strength and Honour.
- Stygian Defender or Aegis of Aaaaarrrrrrggghhh.
- Any staff or high energy set for energy.
- Armour:
- Usage:
- Apply Heroic Refrain on yourself and thereafter all party members.
- Alternate between "There's Nothing to Fear!" and "Fall Back!" to maintain Heroic Refrain .
- It is important that "Save Yourselves!" is active on the team whenever it takes armour dependent damage.
- "To the Limit!" combined with "For Great Justice!" allows to use "Save Yourselves!" immediately upon entering combat.
- In Ravenheart Gloom or when you're blind, use "For Great Justice!" with "To the Limit!" and Signet of Aggression to get the adrenaline for "Save Yourselves!" .
- There are hexes which prevent usage of this shout. Call them so they get removed quickly:
- Stygian Veil/Ravenheart Gloom: Mind Tormentors use Soothing Images .
- City of Torc'qua/Foundry of Failed Creations: Margonite Anur Dabi use Vocal Minority .
Usage[]
- Start in any area. If starting in City of Torc'qua, make sure to supply the paragon with blood is power so he can spread heroic refrain .
- The individual build usage is explained in the build section. The team's general way to approach a group of foes is this:
- Put Dark Aura on the frontline.
- Put Spell Breaker on the frontline.
- Frontline charges in and starts removing foes.
- Panic is used on the largest group of balling foes.
- Deep Freeze is used to prevent effective scattering or to keep melees locked in place.
- Paragon keeps the team stable with "Save Yourselves!" while being unaffected by Vocal Minority and Soothing Images thanks to Peace and Harmony .
City of Torc'qua[]
- Environment Effect: Repressive Energy. Every time you use a skill or attack, you lose 2 Energy.
- This effect affects all party members and impedes their performance. Casters and the paragon should ask for Blood is Power whenever they need it. The frontline should maintain its enchantments and can, apart from that, clear the area with auto attacks.
- Attack skills trigger this effect twice: Once for attacking, once for using a skill.
- Scythe cleaving, Eremite's Attack and dual attacks from Twin Moon Sweep do not trigger the effect more often than a regular attack.
- The support necromancer can't self-supply with Blood is Power and should restrict himself to using only the most important skills.
- Against Margonite Anur Dabi make sure to keep the paragon free of Vocal Minority .
Quest: The City of Torc'qua[]
- Charge into foes once they ball up by themselves. Keep them balled with Deep Freeze .
- This maximizes the effect of Panic and allows to quickly kill foes with your area damage.
- Avoid luring more than one group at a time.
- Most margonites on the wall can be attacked with melee weapons from below. They're rarely out of range, but can still be killed by the mesmer or damaged by triggering Dark Aura with Masochism and flash enchantments. Ask for Blood is Power .
- While you can clear most of the city in one go by heading left right after passing through Torc'qua's gate, it's safer to head right and do one group at a time.
Boss: Lord Jadoth[]
- Do one group at a time.
- Prioritize balling foes over single targets.
- When fighting the last group of foes, you can push up into the Stygian Veil so you're no longer affected by Repressive Energy.
Stygian Veil[]
- Environment Effect: Demonic Miasma. Every time an attack on you doesn't hit, you take 50 damage.
- Team is mostly unaffected by this. There are no blocking skills and the blindness from Dust Cloak does not cause major issues, as all large groups of melees are already disabled by Panic and small groups won't be able to spike targets down fast enough to surprise the monks.
- Mind Tormentors use Soothing Images on targets with warrior primary or secondary profession. The paragon has to be kept free of this hex with Peace and Harmony .
Quest 1: Breaching the Stygian Veil[]

- The team uses a corner of the Maw between points 1 and 4b (see map).
- One melee waits at the corner to body block incoming foes.
- The other melee aggroes all incoming foes and pulls them through the first melee. They will now ball up very tightly.
- Panic prevents that they can do anything.
- They can now be spiked with one Eremite's Attack .
- Simply clear leftover Stygian Fiends with the necromancers and then return to your original job.
- When all waves have been dealt with and the quest updates, advance to point 3. The team wait here while one melee lures foes from north of it to eventually grab the Stygian Underlord's aggro. Once this foe is dead, go to point 2 and clear this area.
- Return to the quest giver for the reward and next quest.
Quest 2: Brood Wars[]
- The team moves together into the trench east of point 2. Keep right. When foes spawn, ball in one spot at the right wall and wait until the melees from both sides are in attack range. Clear them with Panic and Eremite's Attack .
- Proceed with killing the Stygian Lords. They are at point 6b, south of 5b, at point 7 and east of point 7b.
- Return to the quest giver through the trench of point 7b. Use the same tactic as with the first trench: Right wall, ball up, spike.
- Before you accept, prepare for the boss fight.
Boss: Dreadspawn Maw[]
- Preparation: Leave one melee necromancer at point 1 and one between point 1 and point 4b. Provide them with dark aura.
- Accept the quest reward and the boss fight begins.
- The necromancer between point 1 and point 4b kills his tendril and returns to the main team.
- The necromancer at point 1 kills his tendril, moves on the the next and kills it too, then returns to the main team.
- Main team pulls back a bit out of range of the torment claws. Put Panic on the large horde of foes that should be balling up at the necromancers and spike it.
- When all extra foes except for the torment claws have been killed, prepare to move on as a team.
- The team now runs together to point 10. On the way there the melee necromancers kill the remaining three tendrils.
- Melee necromancers return to the main team, ball the incoming horde of foes at one of the black tendrils. Panic neutralizes them so the necromancers can safely spike.
Ravenheart Gloom[]
- Environment Effect: Shroud of Darkness. All attacks have 50% chance to miss.
- Frontline's attack damage is mildly affected, but Soul Taker and thus Dark Aura triggers regardless of whether an attack hits, so most of the damage remains intact.
- The paragon has to make use of "To the Limit!" and Signet of Aggression to gain adrenaline.
- Mind Tormentors use Soothing Images on targets with warrior primary or secondary profession. The paragon has to be kept free of this hex with Peace and Harmony .
Quest 1: To the Rescue![]

- Kill foes at their spawn points (A, B, C and D on the map).
- When fighting the foes at point D, make sure that the next spawn at point A won't slip past your team.
Quest 2: The Rifts Between Us[]
- Kill the two patrols and the line of foes guarding the area.
- Move to the rift (point 3a) as a team, capture it and run off to point G.
- The spell breaker grabs the quest reward, accepts the next quest and waits to accept the second next quest award aswell while the team proceeds with the other quests.
Quest 3: Deathbringer Company[]
- Wait at point G for the foes to spawn. It's just one group that won't put up much of a fight.
Boss: The Greater Darkness[]
- The Greater Darkness spawns at point H.
- Optional: Wait for your spell breaker to return to the main team.
- Aggro the Greater Darkness. This spawns two more Darknesses. Lure them northwest until they're standing at the northern wall. The team needs to give you a lot of space to lure them this far.
- Kill the three foes. This spawns six Darknesses. Put Panic on them and try to do a clean spike on them.
- Each killed Darkness spawns 6 Earth Tormentors. Put Panic on them, lock them in place with Deep Freeze and spike them with the necromancers. Monks should not hesitate to use Seed of Life at this point.
- Optional: The quest giver has moved nearby. Players that accepted The Rifts Between Us can take all quest rewards from him.
Foundry of Failed Creations[]
- Environment Effect: Enduring Torment. Every second you are moving, you lose 10 Health.
- The team is mostly unaffected by this.
- Against Margonite Anur Dabi make sure to keep the paragon free of Vocal Minority .
- Against Anguish Titans avoid the mesmer getting in range of their spellcasting and avoid using Panic , so it can neither be stolen nor copied.
Quest 1: The Foundry of Failed Creations[]
- Room 1: Kill foes where they spawn.
- Room 2: Wait with Spell Breaker until the first group has been mostly dealt with. Use it before the second group spawns.
- Room 3: Walk into the room. Once foes spawn, run back to the gate. The team balls up at the gate's corner behind a rock. One melee waits at the rock to body block. The other one lures foes in. Group 1: Misery titans. Group 2: Anguish titans (requires Spell Breaker !). Group 3: Dryders.
- Room 4: Free fire.
Quest 2: Foundry Breakout[]
- Lure the first two to three groups to your right through the chokepoint right after the previous quest's room 4. Body block them with one melee, put Panic on them and spike.
- Move through the choke point towards General Yendzarsh. When no more foes are in his aggro range or about to move into it, let one of your melees approach him while the rest of the team stays in casting range. Put spell breaker on the melee and Yendzarsh. Activate him, now run off back to the choke point with your entire team while ignoring the dryders and dream riders. They'll eventually stop following you.
- Keep at the left wall, avoid aggroing more foes while moving towards Silzesh. You'll usually have to deal with one mixed group of titans.
- Free Silzesh and kill the foes spawning here.
- Wait until you can proceed to Captain Valkyss by keeping to the left wall without aggroing more foes.
- Move to Valkyss. Wait.
- Kill the Anguish Titans moving to your position. This requires Spell Breaker !
- Free Valkyss and kill the spawning foes.
- Keep in the corner until patrols have moved away and you can proceed by sticking to the left wall. Avoid aggroing more foes.
- Move to and kill The Black Beast of Arrgh. Ideally position your allies such that they'll be standing at the left wall.
- Do not yet accept the quest reward.
- Go to where the Black Beast spawned. Lure and kill groups of foes lingering in the pit's catchment.
- Accept the quest reward to spawn The Fury.
Boss: The Fury[]
- Spell Breaker is mandatory.
- Lure The Fury's group first to the south so the foes are close to the wall, then towards your team.
- Ideally they will now ball up on the Forgotten from last quest.
- Quickly spike them.
- While any mesmer foes are alive do not use any hexes on these foes.
