Kind of surprised nobody did a general purpose PvE build like this already but I haven't noticed one since the update and didn't see one in the trial/abandoned/trash sections. Suggestions on skill selection and even the order to cast in would be much appreciated. Necromas 18:35, April 6, 2010 (UTC)

- Why is ancestor's rage not on this bar? It's like uber pwnage now
--(Talk) 21:05, April 7, 2010 (UTC)
- It is mentioned in the variants. The reason is mostly because they doubled the recharge but also because armor ignoring isn't that big of a deal when you're stacking cracked armor and 20% armor penetration which lets you hit foes with 80-120 armor as if they only had 48-80 armor. Optional 2:
...not as hard to handle (wrangling Destruction around the battlefield etc. is pretty annoying)Illoyon 17:56, May 2, 2010 (UTC)
- looks a bit better, arcane is nice and mainbarring AR and SR too. Spirit siphon doesn't really need to be mainbarred - AthrunFeya
- 18:05, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
- Not too sure about the arcane, I think you will be busy enough that by the time you finish using the other skills the 5 second recharge from Glaive will be over. Maybe drop the bloodsong from the mainbar because if you have the option I think running SoS would be better. This build is great if you already have an SoS and an extra rit wants to join. Maybe a quick shadow step skill would be nice?

- lol, you can spam glaive loads if you arent taking your time up using more useless skills. - AthrunFeya
- 20:44, May 4, 2010 (UTC)
- Plus there are enough SoS/AR/SW builds specifically designed to maximize the efficiency of those skills, and majority of builds using those were ultimately well/merged. --Falconeye 19:46, May 5, 2010 (UTC)

Can someone implement these changes? Need to put some thought in tho - mainbarring spirit siphon with only the one spirit is a bit pointless. - AthrunFeya - 15:06, May 11, 2010 (UTC)

this should work in most cases...but it still needs someone to ball up the foes to be "effective", so should i change the build?or is someone else able to do that.Illoyon 00:01, May 14, 2010 (UTC)

vandalism[]
i change the build back to what it should look like...great armor is a must in general pve unless you have some more protection in your team (like a imbagon)...and i deleted this clumsy Rt/P variant, because it's just horrible.Illoyon 20:48, July 21, 2010 (UTC)
agony and painful bond[]
i run this with agony and painful bond (i use painful bond and auspicious for energy and to fuel damage from my heroes) in pve. also i bring finish him.--Saxazax 16:19, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
Why....[]
is it /Me? You shouldn't need Channeling for emanagement, and if your fights are that long take Spirit Siphon. Free secondary means /P for FB/SYG or some spots to go healing/ other utility. Falrach 17:07, 24 July 2011 (UTC)
- Put it to variants, but /Me is the most effective - frontliners aren't supposed to be oriented at supporting, and Channeling makes this very effective at blowing groups to oblivion, especially with some N/Rt and E/Mo backup. 83.82.86.117 07:42, 26 January 2012 (UTC)
such a shame there's nothing else to nuke with after Mimicking a DwG...Clamor of Souls is so weak :( ♟Fianchetto 16:07, 6 March 2012 (UTC)
Equpiment[]
You don't really need a 40/20/20 Channeling Magic staff because you will be carrying an item almost all the time. Just stick with the defensive set. You will have energy problems with the constant flux back and forth with energy provided from the staff. Stick with a Caster weapon and shield. (Mr Chewy 13:54, 13 March 2012 (UTC))
FeelsRitMan[]
This build perfectly highlights what's wrong with dps ritualist in general PvE. I'm trying to find some replacements for PvE skills while bringing my rit up to speed in PvE content, but there's just nothing, literally nothing that would be useful. Best I could do is probably Agony which isn't much. Good thing the elite is somewhat spammable. I guess rit's always supposed to be more of a hybrid. --DefinitelyNotHanz (talk) 17:42, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
- I thought about permanent serpent quickness (or even intensity) to replace the annoying arcane echo. But with glaive, rift and rage you'd still be at 5/6. Perhaps siphon for energy. Two skill slots... hmm... comfort animal and splinter weapon? Hah, guess not. I'm looking forward to see any improvements you find for this one. I may start playing my ritualist more often if I get to know a less annoying glaive build.
- Before you go for Agony, why don't you try destruction with rupture soul? Unless you bring a skill to move the spirit it's sadly only useful against stationary foes. But at least it deals partly armor ignoring and partly armor penetrating (glaive) damage. --Krschkr (talk) 18:05, 17 May 2018 (UTC)
- Destruction combo and ranger secondary could work, I'll try it. Sounds a bit energy heavy though, a BiP support may be mandatory. I'm currently using Splinter weapon with the Legionnaire summ stone as a filler, better than nothing. --DefinitelyNotHanz (talk) 18:24, 17 May 2018 (UTC)

This is something I like to run, can't really call it DPS ritualist (if you want dps rit then go SoS). It's really bursty, use DwG and Destruction before the fight, run into the caster ball and spike it with Summon->Ancestor's->Rupture->Drop/Recast DwG, usually kills everything. For optionals I take Essence Strike for Energy, as I run with a BiP (altho recently Im liking Siphon a lot more), and something like Dash/IAU to get to the ball faster/safer. It's definitely a viable build, and a lot more fun than SoS imo. It's also superior to the current version imo (would even suggest to change it to my version). ZStepmother (talk) 15:25, 9 September 2018 (UTC)
- If your tests showed that it's decisively stronger you should overhaul the page. It's a pretty large difference though, so it would call for a vote wipe – and I can already tell you that I won't be able to test and vote ritualist builds any soon myself. Maybe try to get an opinion from DefinitelyNotHanz, they seem to be interested in this anyway and could constitute a provisional rating with you (if, or rather when that policy change will be applied). At least from the look of it it seems solid, although I think I'd miss spirit rift, a speed boost or more reliable energy management. --Krschkr (talk) 15:56, 9 September 2018 (UTC)
- Well there are 2 optional slots for energy management and speedboosts (like I said, Siphon and Dash is nice). I find spirit rift a bit slow, it has an effective cast time of 5s (since you are on DwG all the time there is no 40/40 to reduce cast time) and by the time it goes off the mobs are either dead or they have moved away. Also don't really find time to cast it, with Air of Superiority it's pretty easy to keep the spike rotation going. ZStepmother (talk) 17:16, 9 September 2018 (UTC)
Spirit Rift[]
Despite slow casting time and slow triggering I think it is worth it for the additional boost it will provide in the end.
- after you cast it, you have to go melee, so it would take you 2-3s anyway.
- cracked armor and penetration are stacking. cracked armor will lower armor rating by 20 to a minimum of 60(core armor). Then 20% penetration will lower it again to 48. InitialArmorRating - penetration * InitialArmorRating = final armor rating
- overall, it will add around 200 to 250 dmg to a full spike
of course, this logic works for casters, rangers/paragons. melees will mess it up. Jilonor (talk) 16:17, 11 January 2019 (UTC)
- It has a cast time of 2 seconds (you're wielding DwG) and you have to wait 3 more for it to do damage. If you are lucky enough to not get rupted/KDd during the cast, AND lucky enough that your targets arent already dead or havent moved from their spot (which is quite likely), it does some damage yeah. It does not even benefit from its own cracked armor, since that is applied after the damage. The damage is pretty bad considering you need 5 seconds for it. In this time you couldve run up to the enemy casters, and combo them down with Summon Spirits (assuming Destruction is precasted, which it should) -> Ancestors -> Rapture -> recast/drop DwG, which deals a large amount of damage in a small timeframe. Its quite likely that the mobs are already dead by then, because you also have 7 heroes with you. On top of it having a clunky 2 seconds cast time + 3 second wait time for the damage, it also costs 10 energy. If its the cracked armor you're after, put it on a hero so you dont have to waste a skillslot on a useless skill. This skill is just a noobtrap tbh, and on this bar you simply dont have time to use it, and even moreso for the arcane echo bar. ZStepmother (talk) 18:36, 11 January 2019 (UTC)
2019 Cleanup[]
I hope this does not prove controversial, but I removed the Arcane Echo variant of the build. The Arcane Echo variant requires a mildly different playstyle, convoluting the Usage section of the article as well as adding a general complexity to the page that disserves its lucidity. I think that the DwG + Destruction variant is by far more popular, and for the purposes of clarity and consistency, it is the variant which the page should focus on solely. Additionally, I'm putting on the page that protection support is recommended. A 60 AL target on the frontline line is quite vulnerable, especially in hard mode. As such, players should use this build with a protection focused character for maximum efficiency. Soldier198 (talk) 17:42, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
- The old page version wasn't satisfying with its two builds. Having only one build is definitely better, so at least I won't oppose the change. Do you think that the current page version with destruction is most recommendable or could it take some more tweaks itself? --Krschkr (talk) 18:06, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
- I have some untested glaive bars somewhere in my old template folder, making use of intensity or serpent's quickness. Unless I forget it I'll dig them out when I have access to my old PC the next time. --Krschkr (talk) 18:10, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
- In terms of self-reliance, I do not think there is anyway to improve upon the build as it stands. There may be more effective ways to utilize it within a team format, but such things are better left to team builds rather than individual build pages. Should anyone come along with suggestions or considerations to improve the build however, then by all means share them. Also, I'll certainly check out those glaive builds of yours should you find them. DwG is very fun to play. Soldier198 (talk) 19:05, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
- I'm pretty sure that the Rt/R is pretty much the current build with dwarven stability and serpent's quickness@6 in the variable slots. But the intensity one might've been a bit different to make full use of intensity. Maybe with channeled strike for improved AoE? I reckon that serpent's quickness is the better pick anyway. --Krschkr (talk) 19:52, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
- I wasn't aware of the Rt/R one tbh, but it does sound quite enticing. If its definitely the most current version of DwG, then I'd say put it in the page. Soldier198 (talk) 21:34, 4 May 2019 (UTC)
- Well, I don't know whether it is or not. I never tested it. Despite how versatile ritualists are I barely ever found myself playing one since spirit spamming came up. Currently my ritualist and the ritualist's entire core hero team is runed for a full 105hp setup, so testing DWG bars would require a lot of equipment changing. But some day before the shutdown I shall give DWG proper attention. --Krschkr (talk) 11:24, 5 May 2019 (UTC)
