Welcome to the GvG Portal!

Welcome to the Guild versus Guild Portal! The Guild versus Guild Portal serves as a main page to all of the numerous Guild versus Guild content located in and around the site.

Guild versus Guild is often called the highest form of Player versus Player and is the basis around which almost the entirety of Guild Wars is balanced around. It is the most balanced, the most tactical, and the most challenging form of PvP. Team compositions are as varied as the players playing in those teams. This portal covers both introductions to GvG and more advanced tactics providing a player the perfect place to brush up on the metagame.

Introduction to Guild versus Guild
  • GvG is an 8v8 format with no skill restrictions. Two guild members (including an officer in the guild) are required to enter a GvG match.
  • You play in guild halls which are mostly symmetrical maps, containing an NPC guild lord along with various other NPCs and a flag. The match is won by killing the enemy's guild lord. In the event that neither guild lord is dead at 28:00, the team that inflicted more damage on the opposing team's lord wins.
  • Deaths incur 15% death penalty. Dead players who have less than 60% death penalty will automatically resurrect every two minutes, beginning at 2:00. Killing an enemy player removes 2% death penalty for players that are alive.
  • The flag is a bundle item. Interacting with the flagstand while holding the flag captures the stand for your team, starting a 2-minute countdown. If the other team does not end this countdown by capturing the stand themselves, the holding team receives a morale boost (10% morale bonus and all skills recharged).

The idea of a portal is to help readers and/or editors navigate their way through PvXwiki topic areas through pages similar to the Main Page. In essence, portals are useful entry-points to PvXwiki content. However, a raw list may be wanted more.
