PvXwiki Policy

This article is designed to act as a portal to the various other policy pages. It also describes the method of adding and changing PvXwiki policy. Current Well Established Policies Administrative Policies Administrators: Administrators are not all-powerful beings. They have limited powers just like any other user. This policy outlines those powers. Bureaucrats: Special admins that can assign/remove user groups including, most importantly, adminship. Evaluating Administrators Describes the evaluation of administrators upon promotion, and re-evaluation of admins at any time. Requests for adminship: The process by which future administrators are nominated, voted upon, and selected. Autoconfirmed users: Outlines the requirements for becoming an autoconfirmed user, which is required to vote on builds. Bots: Special accounts used for massive amounts of minor, non-controversial edits that we don't want to flood RC and watchlists with. Meta Caretakers A position that is responsible for keeping our GvG and HA sections up to date. Content Policies Admin Noticeboard Posting: Rules to be followed when posting on the Admin Noticeboard, detailing what content is appropriate or inappropriate. Article Ownership: This policy details the process whereby editing this wiki, users release their contributions under the CC NC-SA 2.5 License. Article retention: PvXwiki was never intended to serve as a GuildWars Database such as GuildWiki. Rather, PvX was created for a single purpose: retaining Build Articles. Criteria for deletion: This policy details when and how non-build pages can be suggested for deletion. Copyrights: Outlines what content is compatible with the CC NC-SA 2.5 License. Editing User and Talk Pages: Deals with who may edit user pages (and how they may edit them), as well as the proper manner to edit and archive talk pages. Guides: Governs what guides on PvXwiki are for and what to do with guides that become outdated. Image use policy: Rules that must be followed when uploading files to the wiki. Redirect: Governs when to and when not to use redirects. Build-Specific Policies Build Deletion: Details the two primary reasons for which builds are deleted: because they are inferior or because they are unfavored. Editing Builds: Distinguishes when a build should be edited, by whom it can be edited, and what should be edited, in order to allow for the dynamic nature both of a wiki and of real vetting. Also provides links to style guidelines that relate both to build creation and build formatting and details the manner in which builds should be named. Real Vetting: How to vote on builds. This is one of the most important policies on the site and the one every user should make sure they are familiar with. Conflict Policies Chill Out: How to prevent possible fights or upcoming NPAs. Disruption: Malicious acts against the wiki will generally be dealt with according to this policy. Mediation and Arbitration: How to deal with fights that break out on a wiki and how an administrator should intervene. No personal attacks: Play nice with other users. If someone kicks sand in your eyes, this policy informs you on how to properly tackle the problem. Only revert once: Don't revert another user's revert to any article. Archived Policies These policies were standard at one point but fell out of favour. A list of all archived policies may be found here. Guidelines Policy Guidelines There exist on PvXwiki a series of policy guidelines that are more advisory in nature than policies. While they are not binding in the same manner as policies, users should nevertheless strive to follow them where appropriate. A list of policy guidelines may be found here. Style Guidelines In addition to policy guidelines, there are also a set of guidelines that govern how articles on the Wiki should be formatted. Users, both new and old, are encouraged to read these style guides to ensure a high quality of articles in the Wiki. A list of style guidelines may be found here. Proposed Policies Proposing a New Policy In order to create a new policy proposal, users should follow these two simple steps: Create a new article, in the PvXwiki namespace, describing the new policy. Affix {{Proposed policy}} to the new article. The template will add the page to the list below. Current Proposed Policies The following policies are either incomplete or require greater discussion (oldest policies first). PvXwiki:Beginner Builds (talk) Revisiting Policies Proposing Revisions In order to propose a revised policy, users should follow these three simple steps: Add a new sub-article to the policy including the entire policy with all necessary changes. Add a message to the talk page of the policy article advertising the proposed change. Affix {{Policy revision}} to the new sub-article.
